
Wilderness First Aid Certification Course hosted at ASCEND South Side taught by True North Wilderness Survival School.
Sometimes just dialing 911 isn’t enough. This hands-on, scenario-based course equips you with the skills to assess, manage, and respond to medical emergencies in remote environments. From fractures and bleeding to environmental injuries and patient evacuation decisions, you’ll gain practical, field-tested tools you can use immediately. Whether you’re a hiker, hunter, guide, or backcountry professional, Wilderness First Aid builds the confidence and competence to act decisively when it counts.
You’ll learn such valuable topics as: Patient Assessment Hypothermia Shock Heat Illness Breaks & Sprains Allergic Reactions Wound Management Bleeding Control
This course is geared towards participants of all skill levels and backgrounds so no particular experience or athletic ability is necessary. We only require that you bring the necessary equipment, a sense of adventure, and an openness to learning. From there, we will work together take care of the rest. This course is accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for pre-hospital care providers. Certification length is two (2) years. You must attend both sessions (May 9 and 10) from 8a-5p to receive certification.
