Off the Wall Training for Climbing

Off the Wall Training for Climbing

This weekly training course is built around the key movement patterns that support strong, efficient climbing. Each week focuses on one primary element of off the wall training — Week 1-pulling, Week 2- pushing, Week 3-supplementary and antagonist movements, and Week 4-hangboarding and core- with additional mobility throughout. You’ll learn proper technique, why the movement matters for climbing, and how to apply it safely and effectively in the weight room.

Programming is scalable and inclusive, making the course appropriate for beginner climbers new to lifting as well as more advanced climbers looking to refine mechanics, build strength, and train with greater intention. Exercises are coached with clear regressions and progressions so every participant can work at the right level for their experience, goals, and climbing style. The result is a practical, climber-focused approach to lifting that builds confidence, resilience, and long-term performance.

Note: You must be 14 years or older or demonstrate proper behavior and etiquette to utilize the fitness area or take a class.

COMMUNITY RESPECT PLEDGE

Treat our staff and your fellow climbers with kindness and respect. ASCEND cultivates and promotes spaces in which all people are empowered to safely practice and otherwise participate in climbing, yoga, fitness, and broader wellness-oriented activities. We uphold our commitment to equity by encouraging diversity, individual identity, and increasing access to opportunity through shared experiences in our communities. As a guest/member of the ASCEND Climbing community, I will:

  1. Treat others in this space with dignity and respect.
  2. Accept complexity and embrace differences among identities.
  3. Model inclusive behavior and be open to unfamiliarity.
  4. Honor this commitment at all times while I am engaged with the ASCEND Climbing community.
